THE ABSENCE Offering 'Free Metal Upgrade'

Tampa, Florida-based melodic thrashers THE ABSENCE have issued the following update:

"FREE METAL UPGRADE! Bring your TRIVIUM shirt to an ABSENCE show and swap it out for a shirt from THE ABSENCE for free! We're touring all over America and Canada so come out, swap out that TRIVIUM shirt and show the world that you truly are metal!"

THE ABSENCE will take part in this summer's Metal Blade 25th Anniversary Tour alongside CANNIBAL CORPSE, THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, THE RED CHORD and GOATWHORE. The trek kicks off on September 6 in New Orleans, Louisiana.

THE ABSENCE recently posted its cover of TESTAMENT's "Into the Pit" on the band's MySpace page. The track comes off the group's sophomore CD, "Riders of the Plague", which was released on August 7 via Metal Blade Records. The album was recorded at Mana Studios in Florida with Swedish producer Jonas Kjellgren (SCAR SYMMETRY, CARNAL FORGE). Mixing duties were handled by Jonas at his Black Lounge studios in Avesta, Sweden. The CD features guest appearances by guitarists James Murphy (DEATH, TESTAMENT), Jonas Kjellgren, Per Nilsson (SCAR SYMMETRY) and Santiago Dobles (AGHORA) as well as guest vocals by Jonas Granvik (WITHOUT GRIEF, EDGE OF SANITY).

THE ABSENCE shot a video for their track "Dead and Gone" at the end of July in New York with director Kevin Custer (THE DESTRO, DECYFER DOWN).
